Being one of PropNex’s key decision makers, Joseph’s personal principles are naturally in tandem with the company’s core values of Honesty, Integrity and Ethics. He is also a steadfast believer in continuous self-improvement—in ideas, quality and customer satisfaction. These are reflected in both the organisation’s operations and its people, both of which are under Joseph’s watchful eye.

Joseph is an ardent advocate of autonomy and entrepreneurship. As a leader, he emphasises respect and concern for every individual while helping them to grow and develop.

During his younger days, equipped with a diploma from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, he trained as an engineer and spent a large part of his time as an aeronautical specialist in the air force. Subsequently, he ventured into sales, having obtained the Diploma of Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Unrelenting in his desire to forge a better future, he went on to obtain a Degree in Business (majoring in Marketing), from the University of Tasmania, and then branched into engineering sales.

This provided him with the opportunity to travel extensively around the region, to Indonesia, Bangladesh and Vietnam for instance, and the United States, selling millions of dollars worth of engineering products.

Despite establishing such a wealth of international experience, Joseph’s career reached a turning point when he became weary of politics in the course of his work. He desired more autonomy in managing his decisions and time. Examining his personal values of leadership that allows more room for professional and personal growth, the lure of the property business at that time proved enticing.

With the property industry offering greater independence and flexibility in time management with low capital investment and operational cost, his life-transforming career change is a path he took head-on with his values and beliefs at heart.

Armed with a Common Examination for Housing Agents (CEHA) equivalent to a professional license, Joseph took valuable lessons in stride from the many challenges he encountered: quarrelsome and difficult clients, deceitful co-brokers, irregular working hours and, ultimately, no successful deals. Success never tasted as sweet as when all his personal sacrifices, perseverance and faith brought him his first real estate deal.

Instilling in himself the discipline to pursue this newfound passion with excellence and dedication, he attended seminars featuring world-renowned speakers such as the National Achievers Congress, so as to achieve outstanding results in a highly competitive global market.

He became actively involved with the Institute of Estate Agents (IEA), serving as 1st Mediation Board Member (1998–2000), 2nd Disciplinary Board Member (2000–2002) and 3rd Disciplinary Board Member (2002–2004). These stints provided him with the macroscopic view to take his vision one step closer to reality.

Benefiting from his experiences, Joseph, along with partners Mohamed Ismail and Alan Lim, laid the groundwork on what has become a successful merger leading to the birth of PropNex, Singapore’s largest real estate company in terms of secondary market share. Carrying the shared vision in his heart and mind everyday, partners and employees alike bask in his shared vision of a future where PropNex progresses from success to success.

Joseph is now one of the key elements behind PropNex Corporation’s growth and expansion. He heads the Company Operations and Information Technology, and is responsible for policy and strategy formulation and corporate direction.
