A new project in the heart of Bedok looks set to catch the eye of home buyers and investors. One could say Sky Eden @ Bedok pretty much has every need covered – proximity to retail options, famous eateries, greenery, recreation and sports facilities, schools, and convenient access to the MRT station. The development even has an impressive address, 1 Bedok Central.
Sky Eden @ Bedok, a mixed-use development sits on the site of the former Bedok Point Mall. It will offer 158 residential units, spanning from 2- to 4-bedroom apartments, with 12 commercial units on the ground floor. Buying interest is expected to be keen, given the project’s strategic location and limited mass market new launches this year.
Developed by Chempaka Development (a subsidiary of Frasers Property), the 99-year leasehold Sky Eden @ Bedok will be the first non-landed private residential project to be launched in Bedok Central in about 11 years – since Bedok Residences was put on the market in 2011. As such, it would be an eagerly anticipated new launch that is likely to see pent-up demand spurring sales. In November 2011, the 583-unit Bedok Residences sold more than 350 units on the first day of launch.
Bedok Central is a hive of activity where residents and visitors shop for their daily necessities, feast on hawker fare, and where shop keepers and vendors ply their trade. Apart from Bedok Mall which has over 200 shops, other retail options include Djitsun Mall and a variety of heartland shops and supermarkets in the neighbourhood. And all these are within walking distance from Sky Eden @ Bedok.
Located within a 3-minute walk from the Bedok MRT station on the East-West Line and the bus interchange, residents at Sky Eden @ Bedok will enjoy direct access to various key employment hubs such as in, Tampines, Paya Lebar, Raffles Place, and Jurong East. The commute to work in the central business district will take about 25 minutes via the MRT, while it is a short train ride of less than 15 minutes to offices in Paya Lebar and Tampines regional centres. For drivers, the Pan Island Expressway and the East Coast Parkway are also easily accessible via Bedok North Avenue 3 and Bedok South Avenue 1 respectively.
In addition, the development is also situated near the Changi Business Park, which is home to many technology firms and financial services companies. Meanwhile, the expansion of the Changi Airport and the growth of new aviation-related industries will also inject vibrancy to the Eastern part of Singapore. These initiatives could potentially enlarge the leasing demand for homes in Bedok and nearby towns.
Families with school-going children will also find numerous schools in the vicinity of Sky Eden @ Bedok. These include Bedok Green Primary, Fengshan Primary, Opera Estate Primary, Red Swastika School, and Yu Neng Primary school - all located within 1 Km of the development. Other schools nearby are: Damai Primary, St. Anthony’s Canossian Primary, St. Stephen’s School, Temasek Primary, Anglican High School, Ping Yi Secondary, Bedok View Secondary, Temasek Junior College, Victoria Junior College, Temasek Polytechnic, and Singapore University of Technology and Design. The proximity to plenty of schools – from primary through to tertiary levels – makes Sky Eden @ Bedok a choice location for families as well as couples who are planning to have kids in the future.
The iconic community hub Heartbeat @ Bedok nearby will also provide amenities such as a public library, a polyclinic, swimming complex and the Kampong Chai Chee Community Club, where Bedok residents can participate in a range of sports and wellness programmes.
Bedok is also well known as a food paradise, with no lack of popular eateries and hawker centres. These include the Fengshan Market & Food Centre at 85 Bedok Street 4, Bedok Interchange Food Centre, Bedok North Hawker Centre at 216 Bedok North Street 1, amongst others.
There are also many charming cafes, pubs and restaurants in Frankel Avenue, Siglap area, and Upper East Coast Road, which are a short trip from Sky Eden @ Bedok. Whether it is a lazy Sunday morning breakfast or a late-night supper, the area in and around Bedok have them all.
For water sports enthusiasts and those who love being outdoors, there are ample recreation options that will provide hours of fun. Sky Eden @ Bedok is an 8-minute bicycle ride to East Coast Park via the Play Corridor and a 7-minute ride to Bedok Reservoir. The Play Corridor is a 4-km cycling and pedestrian path connecting Bedok Town Centre to East Coast Park and Bedok Reservoir Park.
The East Coast Park offers plenty of activities including camping, cycling and skating, fishing, as well as a range of water and sea sports such as cable-ski at the Singapore Wake Park. Over at Bedok Reservoir Park, fitness and water sports buffs can be seen dragon boating, kayaking or running at the park’s 4.3 km track.
Meanwhile, the East Coast Sustainability and Greenery Plan has also been launched to inject more greenery into community spaces. It was also announced that a new central green corridor spanning 15-km that links East Coast Park to Changi Beach Park will be built; it will be also be connected to more nature-based amenities such as community and therapeutic gardens and nature play gardens for children.
