Responsibilities:

You will play a key role in shaping backend architecture, improving performance, and ensuring high reliability for both large-scale enterprise and consumer applications.
 

1. Backend Development

  • Design and implement RESTful APIs using SlimPHP.

  • Build modular middleware like authentication, validation, caching and logging.

  • Write clean, maintainable, testable PHP 8+ code

  • Integrate with internal and external systems via APIs.

2. Database Engineering (My SQL)

  • Design schemas and indexes for high-performance workloads.

  • Write optimised SQL queries and stored procedures.

  • Manage migrations and data transformation logic.

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity

3. AWS Cloud & DevOps

  • Deploy and operate backend services on AWS like EC2, RDS, S3 and API Gateway.

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or CodePipeline).

4. Performance & Reliability

  • Apply caching strategies (e.g. Redis, CloudFront, query caching).
  • Involved in the profiling and optimisation of PHP and SQL execution.
  • Set up logging, monitoring and alerts using CloudWatch, ELK, and Sentry.
  • Enhance system scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.

5. Collaboration

  • Collaborate with product and mobile/web application teams.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions.
  • Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards.
  • Produce clear technical documentation.
     

Requirements:

  1. Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent.

  2. Minimum 4 years working experience in PHP development with micro-frameworks like SlimPHP, Lumen, Silex, Slim 4.

  3. Experience with AWS deployment and infrastructure management, and Git and modern CI/CD tooling.

  4. Hands-on experience with MySQL query optimisation and performance tuning.

  5. Strong understanding of REST API design, OOP, SOLID principles and Service-based architectures.

  6. Nice to have experience with Java SE (core Java for tooling or microservices), Docker (containerisation and deployments) and Elasticsearch (search indexing and querying).

  7. Strong analytical and debugging skills.

  8. Ownership mindset and ability to work independently, reliable, good communication and quality driven.
  9. Ability to start within short notice would be highly advantageous.
     

Other Information

  • Remote Work Arrangement, Independent Contract For Service
  • 5-day work week, Mondays to Fridays: 9.00am to 6.00pm
  • Follow work schedule (including public holidays) in Singapore
