8 September 2025, Singapore - The inaugural International Property XPO by PropNex Realty, Singapore's largest listed real estate agency concluded, drawing more than 500 participants over two days at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Themed "Global Property Playbook: Understanding an Alternate Investment Landscape", the event featured international developers and subject-matter experts from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and Malaysia, offering valuable perspectives on cross-border investment opportunities for Singaporean buyers.

Spotlight on the Johor-Singapore SEZ

A key highlight was the feature presentation on the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), delivered by Mr. Krishnamoorthy Kuppusamy, Senior Vice President, Business Development & Investor Relations, Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB). His session underscored the transformative potential of the SEZ, highlighting:

  • RM56 billion in investments into Johor in the first half of 2025, positioning it as Malaysia's top-performing state.

  • A target for the JS-SEZ to generate USD $26 billion annually by 2030 and create 20,000 new jobs across sectors such as logistics, digital economy, tourism, and green energy.

  • Enhanced connectivity through the RTS Link, scheduled for completion in 2026, to facilitate smoother movement of people and goods across the Causeway.

Mr. Ismail Gafoor, Executive Chairman of PropNex Realty said, ""The RTS link is a great addition. Though it will not solve every cross-border challenge, it is an important starting point that will significantly improve connectivity and pave the way for deeper integration between the two regions. The Johor-Singapore SEZ represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity. It will not only deepen bilateral economic ties but also unlock tremendous growth in Johor's real estate sector."

Education and Empowerment for Investors

Beyond developer showcases, the XPO convened legal, tax, and visa experts from across key markets to provide participants with practical knowledge on purchase structures, ownership rules, and migration pathways. This ensured that investors left not only inspired but also equipped with strategies for safe and informed overseas investing. The event underscores PropNex's mission to empower investors with the knowledge, confidence, and trusted partners needed to expand their property portfolios internationally.

Ms. Chua Shir Yee, Head of International Sales, PropNex highlighted "The strong response to this first International XPO highlights the growing appetite among Singaporeans to explore overseas property. More importantly, it underlines how crucial education is in this journey. We are committed to equipping our clients with the right guidance, whether it's on legal ownership, taxation, or visa matters so they can invest with confidence and clarity."

Follow-Up Johor Seminar: 27 September 2025

In response to overwhelming demand, PropNex will host a Johor-focused seminar on 27 September 2025 at its Singapore headquarters. Attendees will gain direct access to over 10 Johor property projects and learn in depth about Malaysian property ownership, foreign buyer eligibility, financing options, and the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme.
